Today Monday 27th of April my class Aurora went to the Leinster Driving School on the Maynooth road. We got the chance to complete a theory test, try out beer goggles and drive for about 20 minutes each. There were 4 girls in my group Sarah,Zarah Ellie and myself. We did the theory test first and first time round we got 33/40 and the second time round we got 39. Which meant we passed it. We then got the chance to drive and our instructor was really helpful. Ellie went first then Zarah I went third and Sarah went last. We were taught how to use the accelerator, clutch, break, gear stick, how to indicate and the hand break. We were all surprisingly good at driving and nobody crashed or anything. It was really fun and I'd love to go again.

Scifest
We were given a project in our science classes to do in groups of two of three as part of scifest. I was in a group with two other girls Sarah and Ciara. Our project was "Do Audio Visual Screens Damage Eyesight" how we went about it was we got 20 students who spent a lot of time on their laptops to stay off them for one week. We gave them an eyetest before the week of staying off the laptop and then re tested them. We found that a number of peoples eye tests improved. It was a really fun experience finding out these results and doing up our project/report book.

Elf The Musical
We went to see Elf the musical on the 17th of December in the Bord Gais Theatre. We had really good seats and a great view of the whole show. The actors/actresses were brilliant and had such lively characters. They were also great singers and interacted well with the audience. It was a great day overall.

Work Experience Update
Tomorrow the 2nd December is my last week at Athena Hair Studio. I have really enjoyed my 9 weeks. I am officaly able to wash peoples hair professionally. I know it sounds easy but its actually quite difficult. I also answer the phone and book appointments. I love working with the public because the vast majority are extrememly friendly. The ladies I work with are also very kind and friendly and I'll miss them because we became very close. My next placement begins on January the 7th and I am currently emailing places to find a placemement. I hope I find somewhere that I enjoy.

English Play
We've been working on a group play to enter a drama competition in. I am in a group of 8 girls. At the moment we are still finishing our script. Our play is about a married couple where the husband is quite abusive and the wife just cannot take it any longer so she cuts her hair and creates a total new look for herself she then sets off to a new town. In the new town she finds a new lover while her husband is on the look for her. He eventually finds her and has to let her go. I am playing the wife which I am really looking forward to because I love acting. My friend Sadbh is playing the lover and Anna playing the abusive husband. The other girls are the managing directions. I cannot wait until we have it all together and hopefully it is good enough to submit to the competition.
Halloween Dress Up Day
Last Friday was Halloween and the week before we had a dress up day. Each year had a specific theme and Ty's were zombies. I spent two days on my coustume. I wore a ripped up white shirt and I sewed black patches onto my shirt I then poured fake blood down the shirt. I also wore old leggins and doc martins. All my friends dressed up too and we all had so much fun. The 5th years were dressed as scary circus people and a lot of them went as scary clowns. There were prizes for the best dressed up person and the girls who won really did deserve it with their unique and creative costumes. It was over all a great day and having the week off for midterm afterwards made it even better.

Work Experience Week 2
I've finished my second week at Athena Hair Studio and I love it! The day goes by very quickly. I'm standing and walking around the salon for most of the day because there are only 2 stylists in on a Wednesday. Their names are Sinead and Amy. I help them to arrange the appointments in the morning of the people who are getting their hair dyed and we get the colours ready for those people. Then when the first customers arrive I gown them. This involves putting a towel around the customer and then a gown followed by a cape which stops the hair dye from getting on the customer. Afterwards I ask the customer if they would like tea or coffee and make it for them. I take my lunch at around 1 or 2 o'clock or whenever the salon isn't busy. I also slot in appointments in the appointment book which is quite difficult to use but I'll get used to it soon. I have to start answering the phone soon aswell but I am a bit nervous.
